Westmore PTA needs YOU!

There are a number of committees that would love your support. Even if you have only a few minutes to spare, we could use you. Here are the current opportunities:

COMMUNITY OUTREACH- Do you have a few minutes to make phone calls from home? A number of our committees would like to receive donations from local companies. If you are interested, please contact:

GRANT WRITING- As you know, the school remodel does not include new playground equipment. We are fundraising the best that we can, but feel we could benefit greatly from additional money. We are very interested in applying for corporate grants. If you have any experience, please contact Terri Hatch at 65dragoncrazy@gmail.com.

REFLECTIONS JUDGES NEEDED-  We are in need of people with experience in the Arts to 
judge our student's entries. There will be one day of judging during the first week of November. 
The categories are Dance, Photography, Visual Arts, Literature, Film Production, and Music

Reflections Program Information

REFLECTIONS 2012-2013

"THE MAGIC OF A MOMENT"

Westmore PTA is proud to sponsor the Reflections Program and we are excited to give our talented students an opportunity to explore their creativity. 

On Friday, September 28th, every Westmore student received a packet of information that gives the Rules and Guidelines for this year's program. If you desire more information, you can go to the Utah PTA website here: https://www.utahpta.org/category-guidelines-entry-forms

Please encourage each of your students to enter at least one category. We would love to increase the number of children that participate.

What is the PTA Reflections Program?  Why should my child try it?

• Reflections is an arts program sponsored by the national PTA.
• Students enter original works in one or more of these categories:  Visual arts (painting, drawing, collage,etc.), music composition, literature, dance choreography, photography, or film. 
• Works that best interpret the theme may go on to county, district, state and national competitions.  Every entry will be displayed at our Westmore "Museum of Art" on an evening in November (date TBA).  All participants will receive recognition for their efforts. 
• Reflections involves awards, but the real focus is simply on getting children interested and involved in the arts.  Just participating gives children confidence, experience, and constructive feedback -- and it's fun!

Room mothers Social

The Room Mothers Social has been re-scheduled to Friday, September 21st at 10 am.  If you are a room mom you will be contacted with more details.

Raising Money for a New Playground

We are excited for our new school, but unfortunately it does not include a new playground.  Westmore PTA is trying to raise money for a new playground.  A new playground will cost $20,000.  If you are willing to donate, or if you know someone that is willing to donate, please go to our Westmore school website at westmore.alpineschools.org or email the Westmore PTA at westmorepta.alpine@gmail.com.

September PTA News

Welcome back parents.  We  just wanted to let you know of a couple things that are happening in September.

ALL ROOM MOM HELPERS:  We will be having a Room Mothers Social for all of our new room moms on September 14th at 10 am.

September 24th will be our VISION SCREENING.  We could still use some more volunteers to help.  If you are willing to help please email westmorepta.alpine@gmail.com

Volunteer Hours sheets have been placed outside of every classroom.  Please remember to log any time that you volunteer in the classroom, take home reading library, pta activites, etc.  We will be having monthly drawing for our volunteers.

Welcome back Wildcats!

Welcome back Wildcats.  Here is our new PTA blog.  We will be posting activites, volunteer opportunities, and any information that we think will be useful to our parents and teachers.

If you have not joined PTA we would love you to.  Our goal is to get 100 members this year.  There is no obligation to do anything if you join.  The money goes to the school to support many wonderful school activities. The cost is $6.00 and you can sign up in the office.

Westmore t-shirts are also available in the office for $6.00.  If you would like to check out the sizes, there are sample t-shirts on the PTA board in the hallway by the lunchroom.
